On the occasion of International Women’s Day, our firm held a webinar for clients and attorneys led by Adv. Helit Simhoni, Head of our Labor Law Department, on the subject of the ‘Women’s Law’ – in collaboration with the ACC (Association of Corporate Counsels) of Internal Legal Advisers in Israel.
We were especially honored to host the Honorable Judge (Ret.) Mr. Yigal Plitman, former President of the National Labor Court, and currently Special Adviser to our firm, who reviewed the development of case law regarding the Women’s Labor Law and the new laws on the matter, as well as Adv. Rivka Makover, former Director of Settlements and Commissioner of the Women’s Labor Law at the Ministry of Labor and Welfare – and currently a lecturer in labor law, who presented the point of view of the Commissioner of the Women’s Labor Law and the considerations she faces when discussing employers’ requests for dismissal of women who are protected by law. During the lecture, Adv. Makover addressed a variety of questions, such as: What is the discretion of the commissioner and what should be presented to her when an application is submitted to the Ministry of Labor.
