Adv. Amir Amar, fouding partner and head of the firm, participated in Dun’s 100 senior legals forum, which is held annually in the presence of Israel’s leading law firms.
The forum discussed subjects experienced by the judicial world, inter alia the judicial reform of this past year, the Iron Swords war, the effect of the financial slow down on the sector, etc.
Adv. Amar referred to the matter of the reform: “There has been a total defeat of an unsuccessful move not to amend the legal system, but to weaken it – and it is a good thing. So we have won. The question is always what does one do after winning? I think that the legal system most certainly should be mended and improved in many aspects, and in more than one aspect the number of residing judges. It seems that everyone is in agreement on that. The move by Minister Levin was unfocused, and was most certainly a political move. That does not means that amendments are not necessary. We need to think deeply about who our enemies are. The enemy is external, not at home. At home the dialog should be one of appeasement and consent”.
Adv. Amar further called upon firm leaders to prepare for what lies ahead, and added that “In any event, the reform issue has become secondary to the challenges facing us in the international arena, where it can be assumed we are facing years of isolation and alienation, which will, undoubtedly, have an enormous effect on the business sector and on the fields and scopes of our work as law firms.
We will be required to prepare for the long term and to perform adaptations in terms of the types of legal services that will be required and the judicial fields in which work will focus, and the sooner the better.”
