Another significant stage on the way to final approval of comprehensive legislation on artificial intelligence within the boundaries of the European Union, the AI Act: after in-depth discussions that have lasted for months, last Friday a draft law was presented for the final discussions stage and approval of the European Parliament. The changes introduced to the versions presented for parliament approval include reference to models used for general purposes, such as ChatGPT and similar others, a reduced definition of artificial intelligence considered “high risk” and an interesting addition concerning the dimension of sustainability by introducing compulsory documentation of the models’ effect on the environment. We will expand on all these in a webinar we will be holding on Tuesday 2.5.
